Halloween Event Guide

The Shadowed Eclipse Halloween event is Tower of Shattered Lanterns in Convorteum version 1. This is the modern custom Halloween tower.

The event is an 8-hour expedition for 1 to 12 players. It scales to the progression era of the character who creates the expedition, then uses that era for the tower's Halloween reward pool.

Access

Dizzy can spawn the Halloween expedition NPC when the event is enabled. Hail the Halloween NPC and choose Tower of Shattered Lanterns (Halloween Event) to create the expedition. After it is created, say ready to enter.

The expedition is created in `convorteum` version 1 and stores the detected era for that instance. The tower can scale from early progression eras through Planes of Power.

How The Tower Works

Tower of Shattered Lanterns is a six-floor climb. Each floor introduces a key or essence gate, and later floors punish players who try to skip ahead without the proper key.

The key flow is:

Floor bosses and minibosses also seed era-based Halloween loot. If a player is wearing one of the cursed Halloween ring or ear items, those boss scripts can add a random Curse Breaker relic to the corpse. Ten unique Curse Breakers are used later for the Cursebreaker quest.

Common Tower Loot

Regular tower enemies can drop Blighted Shadowsbane pieces, Halloween consumables, temporary cursed jewelry, and small utility rewards.

Common notable drops include:

The temporary Halloween Ring of Fear and Halloween Ear of Horror are important. They are cursed items. Wearing them can trigger haunting behavior, but they also make tower bosses eligible to add Curse Breaker relics.

Era Halloween Rewards

Bosses and minibosses can seed era-appropriate Halloween gear. The pool changes by the instance era:

  • Halloween Shield of Horrors
  • Halloween Shield of Terror
  • Halloween Hands of Despair
  • Halloween Candy Crusher
  • Halloween S'mores Poker
  • Halloween Executioner's Axe

Planes of Power era adds Halloween Ring of Fear (PoP) and Halloween Ear of Horror (PoP) to the high-end Halloween pool.

Morghast can also rarely add Hallow's Spell in Luclin or Planes of Power era, and can rarely add candy rewards in Velious, Luclin, or Planes of Power era:

Floor 1: Lantern Ruins

Floor 1 begins with a large spread of Lantern-Stuffed Stalkers, Echoes of the Forgotten, Tinkerspawn Remnants, and Ashlight Cinderlings.

Two minibosses spawn on this floor:

  • Ashmaw the Cinder Ghoul
  • Marrowhowl the Bone Piper

These minibosses seed a random era Halloween reward when the instance has players present. They also check for cursed Halloween jewelry when combat starts, which is how Curse Breaker relics can enter the corpse loot.

Kill Floor 1 trash and both minibosses to establish the early tower progression. The first portal uses Tower Key.

Floor 2: Obsidian Gate

Floor 2 enemies are Clockwork Lanternkeepers, Earthen Gearguards, and Lantern-Fueled Husks. This floor is guarded by Obsidian Lava Widow.

Floor 2 is locked behind Tower Key. The Obsidian Lava Widow stays invulnerable unless a player with the Tower Key is nearby. Non-keyholders cannot meaningfully damage it.

To finish Floor 2:

  • Gather 12 Floor 2 essences.
  • Kill Obsidian Lava Widow.
  • Receive Obsidian Key for Floor 3.

Obsidian Lava Widow can seed era Halloween loot and can add a Curse Breaker if a cursed-jewelry wearer engages it.

Floor 3: Mirror And Glass

Floor 3 enemies include Mirror-Flecked Apparitions, Hollow Lantern Wardens, Reflected Attendants, and Mechanical Tinkershades.

Two minibosses guard the floor:

  • Twilight Phantasm
  • Glasswork Duelist

Both require Obsidian Key access. They remain invulnerable if no Obsidian Key holder is close, and attacks from non-keyholders are ignored.

To finish Floor 3:

  • Gather 12 Floor 3 essences.
  • Kill Twilight Phantasm.
  • Kill Glasswork Duelist.
  • Receive Phantasmal Key for Floor 4.

Both minibosses can seed era Halloween loot and can add Curse Breaker relics for cursed-jewelry wearers.

Floor 4: Furnace And Lava

Floor 4 uses Cinder Drake Scavengers, Furnace Heart Ifritlings, Slag-Bound Golems, and Ember Basilisks. The lava section adds more Cinder Drake Scavengers.

One of three Floor 4 minibosses is chosen when the expedition is created:

  • Cinderweb Matron
  • Furnace Heart Ifrit
  • Molten Lantern Colossus

These fights require Phantasmal Key. They remain protected unless a Phantasmal Key holder is nearby.

Important: all three Floor 4 miniboss kills are required for full Floor 4 completion, but only one of the three is up in a given DZ and that miniboss does not respawn. If you are missing one of the three Floor 4 miniboss credits, create another Halloween DZ until the one you need is selected, or use the zone repopper purchased from Captain Cave Man in the hubs.

To finish Floor 4:

  1. Gather 12 Floor 4 essences from Floor 4 trash.
  2. Kill the active Floor 4 miniboss.
  3. Repeat additional DZs or repops until Cinderweb Matron, Furnace Heart Ifrit, and Molten Lantern Colossus have all been killed for the needed credits.
  4. Receive Ember Key for Floor 5 once the Floor 4 essence and miniboss requirements are satisfied.

The Floor 4 minibosses can seed era Halloween loot and can add Curse Breaker relics for cursed-jewelry wearers.

Floor 5: The Lanternless

Floor 5 is built around bone piles and The Lanternless.

Six piles of bones spawn across the floor. When The Lanternless is engaged, the bone piles begin spawning skeleton warriors at random intervals. The skeletons hunt keyholders and can move very quickly, so this floor can become chaotic if the group ignores the spawns.

The Lanternless requires Ember Key. Without the Ember Key, the fight stays protected and non-keyholder damage is rejected.

To finish Floor 5:

  • Engage The Lanternless.
  • Kill skeleton warriors spawned by the bone piles.
  • Gather 30 Floor 5 essences.
  • Kill The Lanternless.
  • Receive Umbral Key for Floor 6.

Skeleton warriors can drop Summoned: Spectral Shortsword, temporary cursed jewelry, and utility rewards. Bone piles themselves can drop powersource upgrade gem.

The Lanternless can seed era Halloween loot and can add Curse Breaker relics for cursed-jewelry wearers.

Floor 6: The Wickbreaker

The Wickbreaker is the gatekeeper to the final fight. It requires Umbral Key. It checks for an Umbral Key holder nearby and blocks or wipes non-keyholder pressure.

When The Wickbreaker dies, it spawns the Umbral Plinth at its death location and awakens Morghast, Shatterlight Sovereign.

The Wickbreaker can seed era Halloween loot and can add Curse Breaker relics for cursed-jewelry wearers.

Final Boss: Morghast, Shatterlight Sovereign

Morghast is the final boss of Tower of Shattered Lanterns. On first combat engage, Morghast has a chance to seed an era Halloween reward. In Luclin or Planes of Power era, it also has a small chance to add Hallow's Spell. In Velious, Luclin, or Planes of Power era, it can also add one of the Halloween candy items.

Morghast locks at five HP thresholds:

  • 80% - Ascent Plinth
  • 60% - Blackglass / Obsidian-style plinth
  • 40% - Veilbound / Phantasmal plinth
  • 20% - Cinderwick / Ember plinth
  • 10% - Umbralgate / Umbral plinth

At each threshold, Morghast becomes invulnerable and signals the matching plinth. Kill the active plinth to remove that ward and make Morghast vulnerable again. If the raid keeps hitting Morghast during a ward phase, nothing useful happens; swap to the plinth immediately.

Morghast's normal table includes guaranteed Silver Shamrock entries, and the script can add the era Halloween reward package on top.

Cursebreaker Quest

Hollen Shadowstalker handles the Cursebreaker reward.

The cursed Halloween ring and ear can haunt players while worn. To break that curse permanently, wear the cursed item while fighting eligible tower bosses. When a cursed wearer engages those bosses, the boss can add one random Curse Breaker relic to its corpse.

There are ten unique Curse Breaker relics, all named Curse Breaker on the item display. Combine all ten with Tier Upgrade Kit to create Curse Proof.

Turn Curse Proof in to Hollen Shadowstalker. He grants the curse immunity flag, gives the Cursebreaker suffix title, and shares the protection to same-IP group members who do not already have it.

Once curseproofed, the Halloween cursed jewelry haunting behavior is disabled for that character.

Practical Route

  1. Create the Tower of Shattered Lanterns Halloween expedition through the event NPC.
  2. Clear Floor 1 and kill Ashmaw and Marrowhowl.
  3. Use the Tower Key to move into Floor 2.
  4. Gather 12 Floor 2 essences and kill Obsidian Lava Widow for the Obsidian Key.
  5. Gather 12 Floor 3 essences and kill Twilight Phantasm plus Glasswork Duelist for the Phantasmal Key.
  6. Gather 12 Floor 4 essences and make sure all three Floor 4 miniboss credits are completed. Since only one Floor 4 miniboss spawns per DZ, repeat DZs or use the hub repopper as needed, then claim the Ember Key.
  7. On Floor 5, fight The Lanternless, let the bone piles spawn skeletons, gather 30 Floor 5 essences, and earn the Umbral Key.
  8. Use the Umbral Key to fight The Wickbreaker.
  9. Kill The Wickbreaker, then handle Morghast by swapping to the active plinth at 80%, 60%, 40%, 20%, and 10%.
  10. If working Cursebreaker, wear the cursed Halloween ring or ear while fighting eligible tower bosses and collect all ten Curse Breakers before combining Curse Proof.

Notes

  • The event is meant to be replayed. Era loot, cursebreaker pieces, and Morghast bonus rolls are chance-based.
  • If a boss appears invulnerable, check whether the proper floor key is on the character engaging it.
  • If Morghast stops taking damage, the answer is an active plinth.
