Paludal Caverns Guide

Paludal Caverns continues the Umbral Chorus route with a private-instance Envoy, a dungeon-crawl style set of named targets, sediment delver mechanics, spore traps, Reishicyben, and the key into Echo Caverns.

Envoy and Instance

The Envoy of Sel`Rheza offers a private version of Paludal Caverns. Say "instance" to begin the instance flow. The Envoy text frames the zone as another Sel`Rheza illusion path.

Parent Script Mechanics

The parent script retunes the zone into Luclin difficulty. Normal enemies are strengthened, named bosses are stronger, and both can drop from the shared Luclin class bracer pool.

Boss behavior includes:

  • Named bosses can call nearby enemies onto their top hate target at half health unless Mark of Silence is active.
  • Bosses pulse short-range life drain while engaged.
  • Enemies can trigger Wrath of Luclin near low health, damaging nearby players, bots, and pets.
  • Eligible deaths can spawn an umbral beast.

Paludal bosses have a higher chance than Shadeweaver to add a random class bracer, and ordinary enemies have a smaller chance at the same pool.

Harbinger of Luclin Zone Puller

Harbinger of Luclin is the Luclin zone puller. When clicked in a supported Luclin zone, it sends a message that nearby creatures sense your presence and forces NPCs within about 400 range to aggro the clicker. It has a two minute reuse timer. If it is clicked outside supported Luclin zones, it only resonates faintly and does nothing.

The script allows it in these Luclin zones:

  • Shadeweaver's Thicket
  • Paludal Caverns
  • Echo Caverns
  • The Deep
  • Maiden's Eye
  • Akheva Ruins
  • Tenebrous Mountains
  • Katta Castellum
  • Twilight Sea
  • Fungus Grove
  • Grimling Forest
  • Scarlet Desert
  • Mons Letalis
  • The Grey
  • Ssraeshza Temple

In Paludal, use it carefully. It is useful for finding or gathering nearby crawlers during the dungeon clear, but it is a real pull tool and can drag a bad chunk of the cave onto the player who clicks it.

Checkpoint Flag

Checkpoint Flag is a separate checkpoint and boss-routing item. It is not the same thing as Harbinger of Luclin.

In Paludal Caverns, clicking Checkpoint Flag gives access to the center checkpoint route. It can also offer the boss route after the character has used Sealed Jar, which attunes that character to the Paludal end boss. If the boss attunement is missing, the flag still lets you say "checkpoint", but the boss path stays blocked.

Checkpoint Flag currently has special handling in Paludal Caverns and Echo Caverns.

Sediment Delver Line

The sediment delver is a scripted combat target. It is tuned above normal trash, starts a Shadowknight silence timer and a life-drain timer in combat, and reduces damage from Shadowknights. Near low health it has a chance to unleash Wrath of Luclin.

On death, the sediment delver has a chance to spawn a massive sediment delver. The massive version can drop classic sediment pieces and Collector's Ball of Mud.

Sediment delver notable drops:

Spore Traps

A rain of spores is a proximity trap. Entering its area triggers the trap, shouts that spores have fallen, casts its spell on the player who triggered it, and then despawns.

Reishicyben

Reishicyben is the main Paludal boss. On engage, it announces itself, starts a spore surge timer, starts muttering, and sets health events at 80, 50, 40, and 10 percent.

Key mechanics:

  • At 80, 40, and 10 percent, Reishicyben spawns mini mushrooms.
  • At 50 percent, it calls nearby enemies onto its top hate target unless Mark of Silence is active.
  • Every spore surge casts the spore effect on itself, sends the sickly bioluminescence message, heals for a random amount, and repeats.
  • Reishicyben reduces player damage taken against it.
  • Near low health it has a high chance to unleash Sporeburst of Reishicyben, a heavy short-range burst against players, bots, and pets.

Mini mushrooms depop after being out of combat for several minutes, but during the fight they are extra pressure and should not be ignored.

Reishicyben Drops

Reishicyben carries the Paludal chase set:

Practical Route

Use the Envoy if you want the private instance. Work through the dungeon crawl, watch for spore traps, and treat sediment delvers as real scripted threats because of silence, life drain, and Wrath of Luclin. For Reishicyben, kill mini mushrooms quickly, spread enough for Sporeburst, and keep the Key to Echo Caverns because it is the access step into the next Luclin zone.
