Halloween Event Guide

The Halloween event is enabled through the peq_halloween content flag. The active custom event is The Rat Bounty task, task ID 500222, supported by global rat-hunt scripts and the rathunt plugin.

Main Task

The Rat Bounty is repeatable and rewards candy and goodies. The task chain is:

Most rat NPCs update their matching task activity when hailed or completed, then move to a new random valid location.

Rat Location System

The shared rathunt plugin tracks rat locations with quest globals such as halloween_ratter_kai and lock globals such as halloween_lock_paulie.

The plugin keeps a table of 41 possible locations across many zones, including Everfrost, Plane of Innovation, Abysmal Sea, Great Divide, Dawnshroud, Crescent Reach, Overthere, Gunthak, Arena, Plane of Storms, Natimbi, Sleeper's Tomb, Umbral Plains, Burning Wood, Nadox, Nagafen's Lair, Plane of Disease, Yxtta, Thurgadin, Netherbian, Field of Bone, Dulak, Kithicor, Plane of Fire, Barindu, Plane of Growth, Ssra Temple, Firiona Vie, Hatesfury, Jaggedpine, Plane of Nightmare, Qinimi, Wakening Lands, Katta, Dreadlands, Torgiran, Nektulos, Plane of Time A, Riwwi, Crystal Caverns, and Plane of Mischief.

Some rats use indoor-only location selection. Some combat versions set short lock globals so the same target cannot immediately be reused.

Candy Rewards

Common candy rewards include:

Several rat steps give one or more candy items, with later steps giving larger stacks. PVP-flagged characters can qualify for separate PVP reward globals on some steps.

Bristlebane Tickets

Bristlebane's Ticket of Admission is used with Dieffer Wolfhugger in the Halloween event zone. Ticket turn-ins can result in tricks, candy, or special prizes depending on the script version and random roll.

Chunk of Coal
Pocket Lint

Possible treat rewards include stacks of Halloween candy.

Special-prize logic uses globals such as halloween_special_winner and can award mount/illusion-style prizes, Gold Ticket, or Peace Be With You depending on the active Dieffer script and the player's reward state.

Notable NPCs

Toby, Napoleon, and Paulie have extra combat forms in the Halloween event scripts. These versions can spawn final forms, signal location triggers, or reset their rat globals if they time out.

Dieffer Wolfhugger also has utility behavior in older scripts, including SoW/SoE donation handling and weather control.
