The Deep
The Deep Guide
The Deep is the pressure point after Echo Caverns. It starts with Sel`Rheza's Envoy warning about the Umbral Chorus, hidden paths, and the parasite beneath the stone. The zone then branches into three practical goals: clear Luclin-tuned named targets, collect the four Overfiend components, and defeat the burrower parasite for the next access step.
Access
The Deep access comes from Echo Caverns through Key to The Deep. The key script grants The Deep access to the clicker, or matching same-IP group/raid members, and consumes the key.
The Envoy text frames The Deep as a place built around pressure and hidden paths. That is accurate mechanically: several encounters move, reset, split, or force a timed response.
Parent Script Mechanics
The parent script retunes The Deep into Luclin difficulty.
Boss behavior includes:
- Named bosses can call nearby cavern enemies onto their top hate target at half health unless Mark of Silence is active.
- Bosses pulse a short-range life drain while engaged.
- Enemies can trigger Wrath of Luclin near low health, damaging nearby players, bots, and pets.
- Eligible deaths can spawn an umbral beast.
- Luclin named targets can add shared Luclin drops, including Skill Shards, Lunar Sunset Gem, Soul Devouring Armament, pet illusion clickies, player illusion clickies, and other progression pieces.
Sel`Rheza and the Moving Tests
When players enter, Sel`Rheza is signaled and begins a narrated test. Her script can spawn three moving encounter targets after the speech completes.
These targets hunt players instead of waiting politely:
- One applies a recurring spell to its last client target every 20 seconds.
- All three repeatedly choose a non-GM player and move to that player's location on a short timer.
- Killing each target signals Sel`Rheza to continue the sequence.
Treat the opening test as an active zone event. If players split too far or sit idle, the moving targets can drag the fight into bad terrain.
Overfiend Components
The main named pool can drop four Stranger Things themed components:
The components drop from The Deep named targets such as Chasm Overseer, Thought Horror Corrupter, Xeximoz, Slavekeeper Xiox, Lhurgoz the Decayed, Koxiux the Imperceptible, Deranged Underbulk, Oldencamp the Lost, and Demodogs.
Hand all four components to the Overfiend summoner. Once completed, the character is flagged to call the Overfiend again by hailing, subject to the cooldown and whether the Overfiend is already up.
Thought Horror Overfiend
Thought Horror Overfiend is the Fiend-King of The Deep and the major boss check for the zone.
Key mechanics:
- At high health, it spawns a mirrored host. The host copies the Overfiend's current health.
- During the balance phase, the Overfiend and host must stay close in health. If the balance fails badly, both retreat and the event ends.
- At the next phase, the host depops and the Overfiend continues.
- At lower health, it summons adds around itself.
- At the final burn, the Overfiend roots players, demands engagement, and starts a two minute pressure window. If players take too long, it depops and must be restarted.
- If combat drops, it has an unchallenged depop check.
- The encounter requires at least two attackers during the player check.
The Overfiend adds Upside Down Lunar Moonlight directly to its loot, with a chance at an extra copy. That item is part of the upside-down Luclin combine thread and also appears on other The Deep named drops.
Waffle, Stove, and Moonlight Upgrades
The Simple Brick Kitchen Stove near the invisible bridge is a hint, not decoration. The Deep is where the upside-down moonlight part of the Eleven waffle upgrade thread starts becoming visible.
The Deep named targets can drop Upside Down Lunar Moonlight. Confirmed sources include Chasm Overseer, Thought Horror Corrupter, Xeximoz, Slavekeeper Xiox, Lhurgoz the Decayed, Koxiux the Imperceptible, Deranged Underbulk, Oldencamp the Lost, and Demodogs. Thought Horror Overfiend also adds one directly to its loot, with a chance at a second.
Moonlight upgrade combines:
- Combine four Upside Down Lunar Moonlight in Tier Upgrade Kit to make Upside Down Lunar Moonlight Rk2.
- Each later rank works the same way: four of the current rank combine into the next rank.
- The chain continues through Rk16, so do not vendor these. The "combine 4, endless bound" lore is literal.
The food-side waffle upgrades are baking recipes, which is why a stove is sitting in the zone:
- An Ego Waffle plus Maple Syrup makes A Syrupy Ego Waffle.
- A Syrupy Ego Waffle plus fine powdered sugar, fine sweetened cream, a kattan mixing bowl, and a whisk makes A Whipped Syrupy Ego Waffle.
- A Whipped Syrupy Ego Waffle later upgrades into Ego Waffle Supreme in the Tier Upgrade Kit with Chocolate Sauce, Cinnamon Stick pieces, Crushed Cherries pieces, Spice Grater, and Sprinkles.
The waffle click scripts summon Eleven-style teleport NPCs at the player's location and refuse to fire while the player is in combat. The higher waffle ranks summon later teleport handlers, so the food upgrades are progression utility, not just flavor.
The Deep Upside Down
A Syrupy Ego Waffle summons Eleven, who can create the version 1 expedition called The Deep Upside Down. It is a six hour dynamic zone for up to twelve players. Say the zone name to create it, then tell Eleven you are ready to enter.
This is not the normal open-world Deep. The root The Deep scripts check for version 1 and switch the zone into an upside-down pressure route:
- Sel`Rheza, The Lunar Oracle spawns only in the upside-down version.
- Entering the zone signals Sel`Rheza to begin her narrated test.
- Three creeping blight encounters are spawned by her sequence. They do not stay put; they hunt non-GM players around the zone. One also keeps reapplying its spell to the last client it engaged.
- The zone controller keeps a rotating "zigzag" mini-boss active every few seconds until players engage it.
- The mini-boss pool is Chasm Overseer, Thought Horror Corrupter, Xeximoz, and Slavekeeper Xiox.
- When one mini-boss dies, the controller removes it from the pool and begins rotating the next remaining mini-boss. After all four are cleared, Thought Horror Overfiend spawns as the final fight.
The mini-bosses are not just loot placeholders. At half health each one has a chance to split into Demodog adds and depop, so burns can turn messy if the group is loose. Their combat signal also stops the zigzag controller, which means the route is meant to be handled one active mini-boss at a time.
The upside-down version also changes loot pressure. Version 1 enemies can add Upside Down Lunar Moonlight, and the four mini-bosses share the important Overfiend construction drops:
They also share a broad Luclin reward table with items such as BDM Wand, Galactic Moon Dust, Glyph of Mana Draw, Soul Devouring Armament, Skill Shards, Lunar Sunset Gem, and several illusion or utility clickies.
Thought Horror Overfiend is the payoff fight for the upside-down route:
- It requires at least two real player attackers shortly after combat starts. If that check fails, it depops.
- At high health it creates Demogorgon as a mirrored host. Keep the Overfiend and the host close in health; if their health spread gets too wide, the balance fails and the event retreats.
- At the next threshold the host is removed and the Overfiend continues.
- At the vessel phase the Overfiend becomes protected, roots nearby players, and spawns Demogorgon as the vessel. The group has only a short engage window. If the vessel is not engaged in time, the room is punished.
- Killing the vessel unlocks the Overfiend again, but spell damage is blocked until the next phase.
- Later phases add creeping blight adds, then a final chase/burn. If the final engagement takes too long, the Overfiend retreats and the event must be restarted.
- If combat drops for too long during the fight, the Overfiend vanishes unchallenged.
Overfiend loot includes Upside Down Lunar Moonlight directly, plus a chance at an extra copy. Its reward table also includes upside-down moon gear and chase items such as Moon Wave Spash UD, UD Waist of Moon Strand, The Moon's Shadow, The Moon's Heart, Voidless Thunder, Voidless Aggro, Nodule of the Void, Harbinger of Velious, Urn of Moon Space, Hammer of the Gods, Runestone of the Spirits, and the normal shared Luclin named table.
The practical approach is simple but unforgiving: use the waffle to make the version 1 expedition, listen for Sel`Rheza's opening, stay together through the moving blights, handle each zigzag mini-boss as it appears, and save cooldowns for Overfiend's balance, vessel, and final burn phases.
Burrower Event
The burrower event is the other major root-folder encounter. Its controller starts waves immediately after entry into the event area:
- First wave: rock burrowers.
- Second wave: spined rock burrowers.
- Final wave: a burrower parasite.
The supporting burrowers force tank aggro shortly after spawning. If one drops combat, it signals an immediate reset. The parasite has a 30 minute fail-safe timer, casts Burrower Parasite Trance every 60 seconds while engaged, and resets the event when it dies.
The burrower parasite is the important reward target. It drops:
- Welcome to Level 61 - global item script levels the clicker's same-IP group or raid members to 61 if they are level 60 and consumes the item.
- Key to Maiden's Eye - global item script only works in The Deep, grants Maiden's Eye access to the clicker or matching same-IP group/raid members, and consumes the item.
- Charm of the Shadows - Luclin charm progression.
- The Scepter of Shadows - key to Vex Thal.
- Greatbow of Umbra - bow with Icefall Chill proc.
- Masamune, the Skycutter - dagger with Severilous' Spear of Venom proc.
- Penumbral Bow of the Mistress - bow with Fabled Word of Command proc.
- Reforged Sword of Truth - weapon with Vengeful Scorn worn effect.
- Sigil Earring of Veracity - Acumen click.
- Talisman of Vah Kerrath.
- Voidless Thunder - global item script summons the Void Sorcerer pet weapon item.
- Voidless Aggro - summons the Void Tank pet weapon item.
- Moon Wave Spash - Fabled Torturing Winds click.
- Nodule of the Void, Harbinger of Velious, and Urn of Moon Space.
The parasite also carries Skill Shards, Lunar Sunset Gem, Soul Devouring Armament, BDM Wand, Galactic Moon Dust, illusion clickies, and several classic Deep chase items.
Traps and Other Mechanics
Ancient thought horror traps spawn an ancient thought horror and then depop. The color-cycling script in the zone changes tint every few seconds, so do not treat every visual change as a separate mechanic.
Core burrowers can drop acrylia ore, gems, and rune pieces. They are not the main progression target, but they support the burrower theme and can be worth clearing if players need materials or incidental loot.
Practical Route
Enter from Echo, clear named targets for the four Overfiend components, and save the full component set for the Overfiend summoner. For Overfiend, keep the mirrored host balanced, handle adds quickly, and be ready to immediately engage during the final burn. For parasite, treat the burrower waves as a controlled event: pick up the forced-aggro burrowers quickly and keep combat stable so the reset scripts do not fire.
Keep Key to Maiden's Eye. It is the next access step.
