Tenebrous Mountains is the Luclin step after Akheva Ruins. The zone shifts from Akhevan temple pressure into the Coterie of the Eternal Night, Katta Castellum's vampire war, and Sel`Rheza's instance travel into Katta.
Tenebrous Mountains follows Akheva Ruins. This zone is a mix of outdoor named hunting, sky/proximity crystal spawns, reflective shield construction, the Johanius/Kerzar vampire thread, and the castle end boss Valdanov Zevfeer.

Tenebrous has a zone controller that checks player position every few seconds. If a player is near one of the sky trigger points and is high enough above the ground, a crystalline entity spawns in the northern sky.
 
Practical meaning: you need flight or a high-air route to proximity-trigger these. Running on the ground will not fire the script because it checks that the player is more than 100 units above the local ground height.
 
When a crystalline entity spawns it shouts, applies a sky/ocean nimbus effect, uses boss-style help calls, and can drop [https://shadowedeclipse.com/?a=item&id=42443 a reflective shard]. Each sky point has a cooldown after it is used.
 
Skyshadow can also be part of this outdoor loop. When Skyshadow dies, it has a chance to spawn either a cral ligi warlord or a meeda hune warlord at its death point. Skyshadow itself can drop reflective shield handles and frames.

The Envoy of Sel`Rheza is the instance guide for this step. Hail the Envoy and say "tenebrous" to enter the mountain instance. Once you are ready for the next step, the same Envoy can send you to Katta Castellum by saying "katta."

The Envoy frames Tenebrous as the northern sky path: part vampire hunt, part Sel`Rheza trial, and part setup for Katta's ruined marble halls.

== Castle Boss Progression ==
Valdanov is only vulnerable when both conditions are true:


The castle bosses are the heart of Tenebrous Mountains. Gorelaz Verilak, Renaldok Masric, Trilexior Aeridia, Xenithen Sterbla, and Skyshadow are the lesser named targets that feed the Valdanov path.
* Valdanov has the Reflectability debuff.
* A client on his hate list has Reflective Umbralforge Shield equipped in secondary.


These bosses are tuned Luclin targets. At health breaks they can call nearby castle minions onto their top hate target unless they are silenced, so keep [https://shadowedeclipse.com/?a=item&id=40821 Tome of Silence] ready and use it before the help-call thresholds.
If either condition is missing, the script makes him invulnerable again. Pull him with Reflectability already applied, keep the debuff up, and keep the shield character on hate.


Killing these castle bosses can spawn Heratius Grolden at the castle point. Heratius has the same help-call behavior and a long despawn timer, but killing Heratius is the important step: Heratius spawns Valdanov Zevfeer, the main Tenebrous boss.
== Johanius Rescue Thread ==


The castle bosses can drop reflective shield parts used for Valdanov:
Johanius Barleou starts the rescue-style thread. Hailing him begins movement and spawns Aellana Barleou, Lyrra Rutledge, and the invisible rescue controller.

Kerzar Clawtore is the bridge between the vampire investigation and the castle end fight.

Handing Kerzar the investigation item starts combat, grants [https://shadowedeclipse.com/?a=item&id=31757 Third Badge of Service], and sets the vampire investigation state. At low health, or on death while that state is active, Kerzar changes into his surrender version.


The recipe uses a Tier Upgrade Kit as the container and combines:
Ask the surrendered Kerzar about Valdanov, then about Valdanov's abilities. The castle-style bosses use the same boss pattern: heavy tuning, help calls at health checkpoints, and Mark of Silence support to prevent the help call.


The crystalline entity announces itself with a zonewide sky-rattle message, takes on a crystal visual treatment, and drops [https://shadowedeclipse.com/?a=item&id=42443 a reflective shard]. The zone controller watches high sky positions and can spawn this entity when players are up near those points.

== Valdanov Zevfeer ==
Gorelaz, Renaldok, Trilexior, and Xenithen each have a chance on death to spawn Heratius Grolden at the castle location. Heratius has a one-hour despawn timer that pauses while engaged and restarts if the fight resets.


Valdanov Zevfeer is the main boss of Tenebrous Mountains. Heratius Grolden spawns him when Heratius dies.
Killing Heratius always spawns Valdanov Zevfeer. Heratius can also respawn himself on a chance if another Heratius is not already up, so the castle can continue to cycle.


Valdanov is not a normal burn target. His script checks two things every few seconds while he is in combat:

Valdanov is the main Tenebrous end boss.

If both are true, Valdanov becomes vulnerable. If either condition is missing, he becomes invulnerable again.
Mechanics:


Pull Valdanov with Reflectability already applied and the shield equipped. Keep Reflectability refreshed for the entire fight, and keep the shield user on Valdanov's hate list with the shield in secondary. If the debuff drops or the shield user swaps gear, Valdanov can become invulnerable mid-fight.
* One-hour hard despawn.
* Five-minute out-of-combat despawn.
* Starts invulnerable.
* Applies a visual/nimbus effect on spawn.
* Every few seconds in combat, checks whether Reflectability is active and whether a client on hate has Reflective Umbralforge Shield equipped in secondary.
* If the shield/debuff check passes, he becomes vulnerable.
* If the debuff falls or no hated client has the shield equipped, he becomes invulnerable again.
* At health checkpoints, he calls nearby castle minions unless Mark of Silence is active.


Valdanov also uses the Luclin help-call behavior at health breaks unless [https://shadowedeclipse.com/?a=item&id=40821 Tome of Silence] is active. Handle him like a mechanics boss: Reflectability plus shield for vulnerability, Tome of Silence for the help calls.
Fight plan: have the shield holder pull or immediately get on hate, apply Reflectability before or at pull, keep Reflectability refreshed, and keep Mark of Silence ready for help-call checkpoints.

Use the Envoy to enter the Tenebrous instance, clear castle bosses for reflective shield pieces, and kill Heratius Grolden when he appears to spawn Valdanov Zevfeer. Build the Reflective Umbralforge Shield before pulling Valdanov.
Start with the outdoor hunt/minis and collect the hunt item, torn pages, glitter, shield handle, and shield frame. Use flight to work the sky proximity points for crystalline entities until you have four reflective shards. Build Reflective Umbralforge Shield, then build The Steak of Reflectability from the Piece of Wood chain.
 
After the shield and debuff click are ready, do the Johanius/Kerzar vampire thread and move into the castle named cycle. Kill castle bosses until Heratius spawns, kill Heratius to spawn Valdanov, then fight Valdanov with the shield equipped and Reflectability maintained.


For Valdanov, pull with Reflectability and the shield already set up. Keep Reflectability on him at all times, keep the shield equipped in secondary on a hate-list player, and silence him before help-call thresholds.

Tenebrous Mountains Guide

Tenebrous Mountains follows Akheva Ruins. This zone is a mix of outdoor named hunting, sky/proximity crystal spawns, reflective shield construction, the Johanius/Kerzar vampire thread, and the castle end boss Valdanov Zevfeer.
