Plane of Torment

Plane of Torment is the Chapter 5 bridge into Saryrn's story and the road toward Plane of Time. The zone has two separate kinds of progress:

• Story progress unlocks the avatars, the tormentor bosses, the Keeper of Sorrows, and finally Saryrn.
• Essence progress is the 1,000 trash-kill reward chest. It is useful, but it is not required to damage Salczek, Maareq, Ta'Grusch, the Acolyte, the Keeper, or Saryrn.

If a boss is invulnerable, you are usually missing one of the story flags below.

Quick Path

1. Hail Argan Milek near the start of the zone.
2. Follow his dialogue and choose to save what is left of your memories.
3. Kill A Horrifying Vision.
4. Hail the returned Argan Milek and finish his dialogue.
5. Kill the four avatars and loot their orbs.
6. Combine the four orbs in Mouths of Baraguj Szuul to create the Screaming Sphere.
7. Hand the Screaming Sphere to Argan Milek.
8. Kill the four tormentors and collect their shattered vision pieces.
9. Hand the Screaming Sphere to Tylis Newleaf and say ready to enter the Keeper event.
10. Kill The Keeper of Sorrows and collect the fifth vision piece.
11. Combine the five vision pieces in the Tier Upgrade Kit to make Shattered Visions of Torment.
12. Hand Shattered Visions of Torment to Tylis Newleaf.
13. Kill Saryrn.

Argan's Memory Step

Begin with Argan Milek. His dialogue sends you into the lower vision area and marks you for the first step of the event.

Once you are sent down, kill A Horrifying Vision. It starts invulnerable unless you have begun Argan's memory step.

When the vision dies, a returned version of Argan Milek appears. Hail him, follow his dialogue, and say you are ready when prompted. This completes the memory step and lets you damage the four avatars.

The Four Avatars

After Argan's memory step is complete, kill the four avatars. Each avatar drops its orb at 100%.

Combine the four orbs in Mouths of Baraguj Szuul to create the Screaming Sphere.

Getting Mouths of Baraguj Szuul

To make the Screaming Sphere, you also need the combine container: Mouths of Baraguj Szuul.

After you finish Argan's first memory step and unlock the avatar portion of the zone, seek out Baraguj Szuul in the lower torment area. Engaging Baraguj throws nearby players into his inner horror event. Fight through the creatures inside and defeat #Baraguj Szuul.

The important part for the Screaming Sphere step is the container itself: Mouths of Baraguj Szuul. Keep it, because this is where the four avatar orbs are combined.

Once you have Mouths of Baraguj Szuul, combine:

• Orb of Agony
• Orb of Anguish
• Orb of Pain
• Orb of Suffering

This creates the Screaming Sphere.

The Screaming Sphere

Return to Argan Milek and hand him the Screaming Sphere. He returns the sphere to you and unlocks the next layer of the zone.

This is the step that makes the tormentor bosses damageable:

• The Acolyte of Affliction
• Maareq the Prophet
• Salczek the Fleshgrinder
• Ta'Grusch the Abomination

If one of those bosses is still invulnerable, make sure the character fighting it has completed the Screaming Sphere hand-in to Argan.

The Four Tormentors

Each tormentor has its own mechanics and a 35% chance to drop a required shattered vision piece.

The Acolyte of Affliction	Shattered Vision of Affliction	Spawns construct seedlings during combat.
Maareq the Prophet	Shattered Vision of Maareq	Calls minions that can empower him if they reach him.
Salczek the Fleshgrinder	Shattered Vision of Salczek	Gains rampage pressure as the fight goes lower.
Ta'Grusch the Abomination	Shattered Vision of Grusch	Uses the same Screaming Sphere unlock as the other tormentors.

Related remnant pieces also drop from these bosses and are used for the Planar Manaforged Pack (Pet) combine.

Tylis Newleaf and the Keeper

Once you have the Screaming Sphere, find Tylis Newleaf. Hail her, follow the dialogue, then hand her the sphere. She returns it and asks you to say ready.

Saying ready sends you to The Keeper of Sorrows event. Nearby group or raid members can be moved with you.

The Keeper starts protected unless you entered through Tylis. Kill the Keeper and loot:

• Shattered Vision of Sorrow - 35%
• Sorrow-Touched Ember - 35%, used for the pet pack combine

Unlocking Saryrn

Combine these five items in the Tier Upgrade Kit:

• Shattered Vision of Affliction
• Shattered Vision of Maareq
• Shattered Vision of Salczek
• Shattered Vision of Grusch
• Shattered Vision of Sorrow

The result is Shattered Visions of Torment.

Hand Shattered Visions of Torment to Tylis Newleaf. This is the flag that allows you to damage Saryrn.

Saryrn

Saryrn is protected by her aura until you complete the Tylis hand-in with Shattered Visions of Torment.

During the fight, Saryrn calls on Sorrowsong and summons servants and twisted spirits throughout the encounter. She can also use the Chapter 4 reflection mechanic.

Saryrn's notable scripted rewards include:

There is also a chance for The Coven Excruciator to appear after Saryrn dies.

1,000 Essence Chest

Killing regular, experience-bearing trash in Plane of Torment grants essence progress:

• 1 trash kill = 1 Plane of Torment essence
• 1,000 essences spawns #PoT Essence Chest

The essence chest is a reward chest, not a Saryrn unlock requirement.

The chest can reward combinations of:

• Shattered vision/remnant style progression pieces
• Recipe components
• Slot-based gear
• Mirrored bot non-visible gear
• Polymorph items

Important Notes

• Use #flagcheck if you are unsure what step you are missing.
• The 1,000 essence count is separate from the boss unlock chain.
• The Screaming Sphere is returned on hand-in, so keep it.
• The Saryrn unlock comes from handing Shattered Visions of Torment to Tylis Newleaf, not from the 1,000 essence chest.
• If a boss is invulnerable, backtrack through the Argan - Screaming Sphere - Tylis chain.
