Frontier Mountains Guide
Frontier Mountains is the bridge from early Kunark into Temple of Droga. The zone has two things going on:
- A main Droga access task from Gilthanas Norrathis.
- A custom named-cycle system with item-grab named spread across the goblin, giant, burynai, brute, and sarnak camps.
Most of the zone has been retuned around Shadowed Eclipse Kunark progression. Regular trash is meant to be manageable progression trash, while the custom `#` named cycle mobs are tougher named-style targets with upgraded loot.
Main Progression: Temple of Droga Access
Hail Gilthanas Norrathis to receive Temple of Droga Access.
The task sends you through the main progression targets in the zone:
- Kill Mountain Giant Braes.
- Kill Mountain Giant Craigs.
- Kill Mountain Giant Hillocks.
- Kill Mountain Giant Tumps.
- Kill Time Displaced Shissars.
You also need three key pieces:
| Piece | Drops from | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Part of a Key (1/3) | Eldak Howlingbear | Key-piece named drop. |
| Part of a Key (2/3) | Mentrax Mountainbone | Key-piece named drop. |
| Part of a Key (3/3) | The Greenmist Beast | Key-piece named drop. |
Combine the three key pieces with the key mold in your tier kit to create Key to The Temple of Droga. Right-click the finished key to receive the Temple of Droga access flag.
The Greenmist Beast
The Greenmist Beast is the custom named tied to the third key piece. It is one of the harder access targets in the zone and uses timed spell pressure during the fight.
Notable drop:
Named Cycle Overview
Frontier Mountains now uses two independent named cycles. Each cycle has one active spawn at a time and moves through three camp areas:
- Southeast camp.
- Southwest camp.
- Northwest camp.
- Then back to Southeast.
When the current cycle spawn dies or disappears, the controller rolls the next camp stage after a short delay. The two cycles run separately, so you can have one cycle in goblins while the other is in brutes or sarnaks.
Not every cycle spawn has a special item. Some are placeholders. The real money is checking the named drops below and keeping the cycles moving.

Optional Ruins Encounter: Vazaelle
The ruins encounter still exists as optional content. The pile of ruin rubble accepts two paradoxical ruin pieces:

Notable drops from the final form:
Practical Route
- Hail Gilthanas Norrathis and take Temple of Droga Access.
- Work the task kills first: giants and Time Displaced Shissars.
- Hunt Eldak Howlingbear, Mentrax Mountainbone, and The Greenmist Beast for the three key pieces.
- Combine the three key pieces with the key mold in your tier kit to create Key to The Temple of Droga, then right-click the finished key for access.
- While you are in the zone, keep the two named cycles moving for item grabs. The cycles are separate, so check Southeast, Southwest, and Northwest camps.
- Treat the Vazaelle ruins event as optional side loot.
Access Forward
